Our little granddaughter Morgan who is 3 has the prettiest curls. Whenever we are in public people always compliment her on how she looks like Shirley Temple with her beautiful curls. So, I was trying to teach Morgan these people are giving her a compliment and she should say, "THANK YOU". We practiced and practiced. Mommom thinks she has this down pat. Later that day we go to the grocery store and while walking in an older man stops Morgan and says, "You are one beautiful little girl". I look at Morgan and she looks at me and I am thinking she's got it. Morgan smiles at the man and says......... "Yeah I know it!" I guess we will keep practicing!

More...Out of the mouth of babes.....My granddaughter, Sophia, who just turned 2 this month is already into going shopping, her Mother, my daughter and I are your typical women, who love to go to the malls, of course nowadays the shopping is for her. We were at the store the other day and my granddaughter picked up a dress held it up to her and said, "Eya, which is her pet name for me, look, isn't it cute, it's a 2T, that is what she hears us say all the time. Her Mom and I busted out laughing, children hear everything, even when you think they are not listening.

More...The new baby in my arms was my 20-year-old unwed stepdaughter's 4th child. I was raising my 7-year-old biological granddaughter and had a teenager at home. I was working two jobs. What was I thinking when I volunteered to rescue my husband's grandchild?
Nevertheless, we took her home and three harrowing years of on again/off again possession passed before we got legal custody.
She became a dancer, gymnast, actress, and model. At 12, she received a standing ovation for her speech at the first Grandparent Rally in Washington, DC.
She's been a member and officer of her high school dance team and was on the competitive cheerleading squad. She's now 18, graduating high school and will attend college on scholarships and grants.
That teenager became her devoted protector and without the love and support of friends and my biological family, this story might have a very different ending.

Our daughter Veronica and son-in-law Kyle wanted a second honeymoon and asked if we’d stay with our two grandsons, Aidan, 8, and Julian, 5. We jumped at the chance to bond more closely –they live in Virginia, we in Florida! But so everyone would get a vacation we asked if we could take the grandkids to Orlando.
So while the parents enjoyed romantic interludes in Rome and Florence; grandparents and grandkids went to parks daily.
We picked the Swan & Dolphin hotel (to walk to Epcot and Disney’s Boardwalk) booking two connecting rooms. We ate at counter-service restaurants and character buffets.
To avoid homesickness the parents brought the kids’ favorite toys and books and we their favorite chocolate chip cookies “Cool!†both boys exclaimed –munching.
We worked on journals (coloring, writing and pasting brochures’ pictures): a wonderful souvenir of our vacation together!

My granddaughter mastered crawling and cruising before her first birthday. Recognizing her rapid maturity, I stood her a few inches away from me and held out my hands encouraging her to walk toward me.
“Come on, Ashley. Walk to Grandma.â€
She grinned at me and her blue eyes sparkled as she flung herself into my arms.
Repeating the process, I pleaded with her to take a step. She responded by falling into my arms. It became a battle of the wills. Stand, fall, plead. Stand, fall, plead. I stood her one last time, looked into her eyes, and said:
“Ashley, come to Grandma.â€
She looked me straight in the eye and took her first step and then another before falling safely into my arms.
Ashley’s reluctance to take her first steps reminded me of my hesitation to venture into the world of technology. Now there’s no stopping me.
